Product Details

The term “rebar” refers to “reinforcing steel bars” which are used to reinforce concrete and masonry structures, enabling these to retain their tensile strength through changes in temperature, weather and exposure to the elements. Rebar is usually made from high-carbon tempered steel; it may be tied together in cross patterns for further reinforcement, and is cast with a ridged surface to aid in adherence to the concrete.

Under normal circumstances, rebar is uncoated and can be subject to rus
t corrosion if exposed to the elements. This does not pose a problem when rebar is embedded deep enough into the concrete; however, in situations where the rebar may be too close to the surface or exposed to water and/or salt, rusting can occur, eventually causing cracks in the concrete. In cases like this, a more expensive epoxy-coated or stainless steel rebar can be used.

Rebar is available in a variety of diameters and strengths for different applications.
