ASTM A516 carbon and low alloy steel plate is an excellent choice for service in lower than ambient temperature applications, has excellent notch toughness and is used in both pressure vessels and industrial boilers.

ASTM A516 carbon steel plate is killed and has a fine austenitic grain size. Plates under 40 mm thick can be supplied as rolled or normalised, whereas plates over 40 mm thick are normalised.

ASTM A516 low alloy steel plate is available in four grades, Gr55, Gr60, Gr65 and Gr70 with tensile strengths ranging from 380 MPa to 620 MPa depending on the grade.
