nt Stub end are mechanical joints that comprises of two components: The Stub End, which essentially a short length of pipe, which has one end that is flared outwards and the other end prepared to be welded to pipe of the same Nominal Pipe Size (NPS), material and of a similar wall thickness. Lap joint pipe flanges slide directly over the pipe and are most commonly used with stub end fittings. A pipe is usually welded to the Stub End and the Lap Joint pipe flange is free to rotate around the stub end. The benefit of lap joint stubend fittings is that there will not be any issues with bolt hole alignment.
