Silicon carbide (SiC), also known as carborundum, is a compound of silicon and carbon with chemical formula SiC.

Silicon carbide has the good chemistry stability, low heated expansion, high efficiency of heat conductivity, electrical resistance comparing with metal being in the opposite direction. Sic (silicon carbide) resists heat, grinding & crushing, especially in resisting hot shock wave, corrosion and radiation. Silicon carbide can be used to abrade cemented carbide, optical glass, ceramics and other hard and brittle nonmetals materials.
